Your Chats, Your Call: Meet My Media Rules
You’ve been asking us for more control over what lands in your chats. We listened and made it happen.
Spontaneity is a big part of what makes PURE, PURE. But it should never come at the cost of feeling uncomfortable. Especially not in your own convos.
While we already had a few guardrails in place, My Media Rules take your chat control to a whole new level. Now, you get to set your own boundaries for photos and videos across your chats.
What’s New
Here’s what you can do with My Media Rules:
Set your global defaults: Choose to block all incoming photos and videos, block or blur only explicit pics, or just let everything show up normally.
Decide when it counts: The first time an explicit pic arrives from someone, a quick pop-up lets you choose what you want to do next:
- Allow photos and videos in this chat. Spicy pics may stay blurred, depending on your settings.
- Block photos and videos in this chat.
- Block explicit photos across all chats, plus all photos and videos in this chat.
So if you want to spice up a specific convo, you can adjust the rules inside the chat. No need to change your global settings.
You can customize your media rules at any time by going to Settings → General → My Media Rules.
Why This, Why Now
Unwanted nudes are still one of the biggest vibe-killers in online dating. According to the Pew Research Center, roughly 4 in 10 online daters have received a sexually explicit photo or message they never asked for. Among women ages 18 to 34, that number jumps to 56%.
That’s why safety and spontaneity have to work together. Getting a surprise message should feel thrilling, not uncomfortable. By giving you full control over incoming photos and videos, we’re creating a space where you can relax and have fun.
We love bringing fun and spontaneity to our community, but we believe that only works when it's backed by privacy, respect, and consent. My Media Rules put that into practice, giving people on PURE the choice of what type of media they receive
